To our mind Brighton Gin is a classic London gin with contemporary touches. It is a versatile gin; one of the few, in our opinion, that can make a good cocktail base, a good G&T and can be drunk neat.
On the nose BG has a slightly creamy aroma, with angelica evident as well as juniper.
Neat, citrus and juniper are to the fore with some spicy coriander notes with a long, warm finish. Add some orange peel and ice and you have an excellent drink, smooth and warm with the orange peel accentuating the citrus while not overpowering the juniper and creamy milk thistle.
With a good tonic water, ice and orange peel, an excellent G&T is produced; the peel again working well with the citrus notes and juniper.
Brighton Gin recommend adding some Brighton Rock to a G&T; we are not convinced, but it certainly looks good and is in keeping with the humour of the distillers.
We think Brighton Gin will steadily increase their audience; it deserves to. This is an unusually versatile gin and a very good gin which now has a coveted spot on Theginman’s shelf.
